Overview#

This is a friendly in-class regression competition designed to help you to practice your data science skills. You can form teams of up to 2 people.

^The benchmark is based on a vanilla linear regression model.

Note: To receive points, top 10 teams must share their notebook with the host for review.

Public vs. Private Leaderboards#

  • Public Leaderboard:
    Reflects performance on roughly 50% of the test set. Updated after each submission.

  • Private Leaderboard:
    Revealed only after the competition deadline. Final scores and rankings are based on remaining 50% of the test set.

Tips and Hints#

  • Avoid overfitting to the public leaderboard—it doesn’t reflect final rankings.

  • You can try feature engineering, polynomial regression, advanced regression models, etc. These can outperform the vanilla linear regression.
