Math 10 Kaggle Competition#

This is a friendly in-class regression competition designed to help you to practice your data science skills. You can form teams of up to 2 people.

To join the competition, use the link in Canvas with your uci email.

This competition offers up to 5 extra credit points:

Achievement	Points
Valid submission	2 points
Match benchmark score (within 0.1 of baseline)^	3 points
Rank 4–10 on the private leaderboard	4 points
Rank in the top 3 on the private leaderboard	5 points

^The benchmark is based on a vanilla linear regression model.

Note: To receive points, top 10 teams must share their notebook with the host for review.

Public Leaderboard:
Reflects performance on roughly 50% of the test set. Updated after each submission.
Private Leaderboard:
Revealed only after the competition deadline. Final scores and rankings are based on remaining 50% of the test set.

Avoid overfitting to the public leaderboard—it doesn’t reflect final rankings.
You can try feature engineering, polynomial regression, advanced regression models, etc. These can outperform the vanilla linear regression.
